I still remember my grandmother teaching me to crochet for the first time when I was five years old. At that time, I may have been the only five-year-old in the village who knew basic crochet skills and had successfully completed my first crochet project before starting primary school. Months later, older girls and adult women in the village began to learn crochet, which turned into a significant trend.

Not long after, a woman introduced and sold round crochet bags in the village. The primary material for these bags was dark blue 2.00mm polypropylene rope, and they featured two long handles. These bags quickly gained immense popularity throughout the village, and almost every adult woman had one. I loved the bag and wanted to buy one for myself. However, instead of paying IDR 5000 (the price at that time) for a bag, my grandmother suggested teaching me how to make one. This way, I had a bag and learned how to create it. For my very first crochet bag, I chose to use light yellow and black polypropylene ropes, placing the black ropes in the center and finishing the design with the yellow ropes. The combination of these two colors made my first crochet bag look absolutely beautiful.

My first doily

Crocheting eventually became one of my favorite hobbies. Over the years, my skills improved significantly, and I began taking on larger projects like bags, purses, and doilies. I dedicated as much time as possible to this hobby, especially during my teenage years. I often envisioned a future where I would own a crochet shop in a big city, selling my handmade crochet items such as curtains, bed covers, and blankets. I feel fortunate that this dream has come true, as I now operate an online shop where I sell my crochet products and designs worldwide.
